Join Unidos MN’s pre-apprenticeship program. Designed for BIPOC workers, immigrants, women, and low-wage workers ready to start a career in the trades.
Program Overview
Looking for a new career with good pay, benefits, and long-term stability? Unidos MN’s Workforce Development Program prepares you for union trades careers and emerging green jobs. You’ll earn a nationally recognized credential, meet union leaders and employers, and get direct support to land a job.
This program is a pathway to opportunity for communities too often left out of high-paying careers.
What You’ll Get
Paid training stipend (starting at $450+)
Nationally recognized Building Science credential
Hands-on skills in construction, energy auditing, and carpentry
Career support – resume help, interview practice, job connections
Know Your Rights & worker power training
Financial literacy workshops – budgeting, credit, paychecks
Navigation support – childcare, driver’s license testing, applying for benefits
Who Can Apply
This program is for Minnesotans who are ready to start a new, higher-paying career in the trades.
You must be:
18 years or older
A Minnesota resident
Able to provide SSN and I-9 documentation
English-speaking
Additional:
8th grade math/reading level
Ability to lift and do physical work
Willing to get a driver’s license during or after training
Commitment
3 weeks of training (9am–5pm, 30–40 hrs/week)
Classroom + field learning
Ongoing support for job placement and retention
