Xcel Gas Rate Increase: Add Your Voice

Text on the image reads 'Our bills are going up again. What's happening?' Coins, dollar signs, and a stack of money are around the text..

Gas bills are going up again.

And we don’t have to stay quiet about it.

Speak up on rising gas costs in Minnesota

Xcel Energy is asking for another gas rate increase, about $7 more each month, on top of hikes already approved in recent years. While families are working hard to get by, part of this increase would go to investor profits. The Public Utilities Commission is deciding now, and they need to hear from the people most impacted.

Public hearings start April 27. Join us to share your story about affordability and the kind of energy future Minnesota deserves. You can attend in person or online, and we’ll support you every step of the way.

Scroll down to view the upcoming public hearings schedule. If you plan to attend a public hearing, let us know you’re coming so we can connect you with others, help you prepare, and show up together.

Want to get involved but have questions?

Join us for a prep session on April 15th via Zoom. We’ll talk about how you can take the next steps and how we’ll support you ever step of the way.

May Day 2026- Launch of Days of Truth and Freedom Training

This is a historic moment for our communities, and we are inviting you to step into it with us.

Unidos MN, in partnership with The Advocates for Human Rights and ISAIAH, is building a people-powered effort to documentthe truth of what Minnesotans have lived through during recent federal operations. Through this training, you'll learn how to safely and responsibly collect stories that will be preserved for advocacy, with the option to share them with the Minnesota Truth Council to help shape what comes next.

There is power in capturing these stories now, while they are fresh, and in doing it together with care, consent, and clarity about how they will be used. Join us in making sure our communities are seen, heard, and remembered.

This training will take place at Mercado Central from 1pm - 3pm. Register below to receive more information.

May Day Agenda

May Day 2026 is a national day of action to stop the billionaire agenda and stand up for our democracy.

As we did on January 23, on May 1 we are coming together as workers, students and families to say NO to business as usual - No voter suppression. No war, No cuts to healthcare.

Together we are taking the day off work and school to show our power and demand accountability for ICE, and safety and dignity for our communities:

  • Morning: Workers over Billionaires Actions

  • Afternoon: Truth Commission - Share your story and demand accountability for ICE

  • 4:30PM: March for ICE Out and a path to citizenship for our neighbors and family members

  • Night: Community street party, support local businesses on Lake St!

Stations of the Cross: In Solidarity with Our Immigrant Neighbors

Stations of the Cross: In Solidarity with Our Immigrant Neighbors

Join Unidos MN along with other co-hosted organizations and Catholics from across South Minneapolis for a public Stations of the Cross prayer service during Holy Week in solidarity with our immigrant neighbors. Rooted in the Christian call to service (diakonia), this gathering invites parish communities, Catholic organizations, and community members to come together in prayer, reflection, and solidarity.

During the service, participants will reflect on each station of Jesus’ suffering alongside images and stories from our own time, connecting Christ’s journey to the experiences of immigrant communities today. This Lenten prayer will include a call to both personal and communal conversion.

All are welcome to join in prayer and stand in solidarity with our immigrant neighbors. Please pre-register to help us best plan for the event.

The ‘25 Clean Energy Home Tours

The ‘25 Clean Energy Home Tours

See what’s possible– and why it matters.
Real people, real homes, real clean energy.

The ’25 Clean Energy Home Tours puts the focus on a bigger goal: making sure every resident in Minneapolis can live in an affordable, healthy, clean energy home. Over two days, you’ll visit real homes and apartments across the city and hear directly from the people who made the change.

At each stop, homeowners will share why clean energy matters to them, what inspired them to act, the support they did or didn’t receive. How programs like the CEF Sustainable Homes model with no money down, trusted contractors, and likely immediate bill savings could make this possible for everyone in their neighborhood.

These are personal stories, honest lessons, and a push for a future where clean energy is the standard, not the exception.
