The first steps toward a fully sustainable Minneapolis are being taken this year, through new clean energy building pilots and green job training programs, thanks to the city’s new $10M climate equity fund. Affordable pollution-free homes and clean energy workforce training that will provide union jobs for communities of color are no longer just a dream.
While these emerging projects are a great first step, capping the climate equity fund at $10 million a year will exclude the vast majority of residents from healthy homes, union jobs, reduced utility bills and the tens of thousands of federal dollars available for the transition to clean energy.
Join Unidos, ISAIAH, Sierra Club, SEIU Local 26 and many other labor union partners at Mercado Central, the site of a new zero-energy building, on Wednesday, March 6 at 5pm. Come learn how we can build out clean energy benefits with union jobs, block by block, and ensure benefits for all residents, no exceptions.
